Thorbot is a weather algorithm that predicts the daily high temperature for a Kalshi market location. Currently, we are focused upon the NYC market, predominantly because it is a unique market – in that it is only reported by NWS once every hour (except for occasional “special” observations. Other weather markets at Kalshi are situated at large airports, and so, they have periodic reports every 5 minutes.

This once-an-hour reporting cycle for NYC creates a lively market that can swing from one extreme to another.

Thorbot utilizes decimal level data from several public and private weather sensors and sends those readings into our proprietary algorithm that reports its output every 30 seconds – you read that right – EVERY 30 SECONDS!
